Shree Shantadurga Nerlikarin

Situated 10 kms from Panajim, Shree Shantadurga temple has an impressive idol of Goddess Shree Durga who mediated between Shree Vishnu and Shree Shiva and stopped the fiercefull war going on between the two. She is flanked by Vishnu and Shiva on both the sides.

The temple of Shree Shantadurga is  most revered patron deity of the Hindus.  This avatar of Shree Jagdamba devi which had come to make peace [Shanti] between Shree Vishnu and Shree Shiva, came to be known as Shree Shantadurga devi.

The temple of  Shree Shantadurga Nerlikarin is perhaps the only shrine in this part of Goa constructed one hundred years ago to install the Deity back to its origin after spending 400 years in the village of Mandrem in Pernem Taluka during the Portuguese era.
